Happy with our product and training

I just wanted to write this to say how pleased I am with our new medical charting system through Computerized Business Systems’ Web site, MedicalCharting.com. I am a nurse practitioner in a busy, young family medicine practice. I work with two young doctors and trying to find the right medical charting system was quite a challenge for us. Our office manager researched several options and proposed using Medisoft Clinical. Based on her recommendation, we decided to go for it. She made all the arrangements with Computerized Business Systems and a representative came to our practice and explained everything we needed to know and more. It was a great experience. And using the Medisoft Clinical to update patient charts, schedule appointments, see if a patient has arrived and is ready for an examination and to maintain records in accordance with insurance requirements is much easier than I imagined it would be. I especially appreciate that information cannot be entered more than once. Preventing duplicate entries saves us time and money. Also, our office manager loves the pre-populated electronic superbill with ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes.

Our office receives ongoing training and guidance when we need it about how to optimize our use of the system. MedicalCharting.com took a great deal of stress off all our minds. We can now use the system with great ease, make updates and appointments, as well as change appointments and be sure to meet all important deadlines thanks to Medisoft Clinical and the more than adequate training we received through Computerized Business Systems. It has made a huge difference in our efforts to improve customer service. Prior to purchasing this software, we received complaints from patients about how much time it took to see the doctor, in spite of having set up an appointment months in advance. These are legitimate concerns, as people’s lives are filled with many responsibilities and it is important that we never lose sight of that. By implementing Medisoft Clinical, we have been able to cut our wait times, provide more efficient service for our patients and get important test results and data included in a patient’s chart in no time. There is no longer a backlog of patient records waiting to be updated and filed. It can now all be done instantaneously and easily. I highly recommend the services available through MedicalCharting.com. If you are looking for ways to handle your day-to-day office operations electronically, you need to investigate the options available through Computerized Business Systems.

Advantages of Electronic Medical Charting

There are many advantages to having electronic medical software whether in a hospital, clinical or physician’s office setting.  Electronic medical software is critical when time is of the essence and medical information accuracy matters the most -- without it, many medical professionals would be lost.  One unique and exceptional feature of medical clinical software is that a physician can go into a patient's record and make additions from the progress note screen and the rest of the file is automatically updated from that one single action.

The medical clinical software comes complete with a physician’s dashboard which lets a doctor view all the critical and important patient information -- messages, incoming results and daily office and patient information -- from one screen. Additional information contained on the dashboard includes physician notes, documentation and lab test results. This can save valuable time and effort when for the already busy world of medical professionals.

Medisoft clinical software allows a physician or other medical professional easy access to important information which results in better and more efficient patient care.  The extensive knowledge base of medical charting software includes; web access to hundreds of diseases and medications, progress note templates, diagnosis guidelines, treatment protocols, and health maintenance information based on specific patient information.  Doctors and other medical professionals have access to thousands of prescription templates and a comprehensive and informative database of prescription drug costs, interactions, allergy and proactive dose response advice.

With the assistance of EMR software, many medical professionals are able to reorganize offices and departments to function more effectively and efficiently.  Patient information is completely protected and kept confidential which is why more and more medical professionals and organizations are deferring to the use of electronic medical software for charting patient information.  Another advantage of using electronic medical software is the margin for error drops to zero if the information is entered correctly -- the chart is automatically updated and the rest of the information is corrected as a result.

With electronic medical software a doctor is able to keep up with patient care information entered by other medical professionals at the touch of a button.  There is no question if a certain test has been ordered or if patient is taking a prescribed medication in the right dosage.  Everything necessary to protect the health of the patient and liability of the medical professional has been safeguarded with the advent of electronic medical charting.

Electronic Patient Records

Electronic Medical charting is a computer system that helps manage many patient records. Systems are considered to be an Electronic Medical charting system when it integrates information from different sources and captures data at the point of care.

Many health care professionals use electronic medical charting, to save time and money. In most cases an Electronic Medical charting system will integrate with the offices billing software, allowing the provider to see the patients check in/out, submit information to the billing software, assist the provider in decision making through treatment and recommendations and even help generate reports.
Today there are over 300 electronic medical charting programs. It can be hard to navigate the market and many are designed just for certain specialties and different size clinics. It is equally important to know about the available federal programs for purchasing an electronic charting system. Some providers will be eligible for over  $40,000 in incentive payments received over a five year period, from Medicare and Medicaid premiums.

You could consider healthcare Pay-for-Performance programs also. These programs offer performance-based bonus payments to doctors that use an
electronic medical charting system to improve quality of patient care. To be eligible, doctors need to track and monitor how they are delivering quality patient care and document the patient’s experiences.

As doctor’s offices evaluate the use of an electronic medical charting system, they need to also considering the replacement of their existing charting systems. Instead of using two separate systems. Physicians need to consider using complete systems that integrate electronic medical charting into a single database. This will help in reducing the IT costs of maintaining several systems.

Electronic medical charting software is usually delivered as either an on-premise or web-based hosted system. The main differences between the two options, include how users would access the system and how the system is priced. Web based systems are usually paid for on an ongoing monthly basis and cost less upfront, On-premise electronic medical charting systems usually cost more upfront but have little or no ongoing costs.

Patient care and security of sensitive patient records is a concern for all health care providers. Finding the system the meets both your practice needs and the need of your patients is very important. You can find valuable information on the different types of electronic medical charting systems from many different sources. Be sure to get the best system possible at the right price.

With EMR software, your medical practice will keep track of every patient with ease and accuracy.

Connecting the Dots with Electronic Medical Charting

Medical charting is the process by which medical facilities keep track of each and every patient interaction. Every person who has been to a doctor’s office in any capacity will have a medical chart. It’s also very common for people to have several different charts. This is especially true for people who have seen multiple medical professionals. As you can imagine, with all that information floating around, it’s easy to miss things or to become confused about a patient's individual visits. Medical professionals have undergone hours of education for keeping things organized, but it’s next to impossible to keep charts streamlined when they pass through so many hands.

In an effort to combat the common problems associated with paper medical charts, medical technologists, doctors, nurses, and software professionals have collaborated efforts in order to develop electronic medical charting systems. Most medical charts contain basic patient information such as name, date of birth, and demographic information such as address and telephone contacts -- anything that might be relevant to medical care. Most charts also contain marital status, obstetric history, and family history. The advent of electronic medical charting has made this information not only easy to gather, but easy to maintain and share. Within the foreseeable future, electronic medical charting will have the capacity to span over multiple practices, thus ending the issue of “here a chart, there a chart” over multiple physicians.

When someone engages in medical charting, additional records are added to the medical chart. Whenever a patient presents with a problem, the primary complaint is recorded, along with the outcome of examinations, any tests ordered, and treatments used. If medications are prescribed, the prescription is recorded in the medical chart, along with the patient's response to the medication. Likewise, the medical chart includes records of surgeries and other medical procedures, along with observations from caregivers.
Medical charting is critical for the organization patient medical history. Doctors use them to identify allergies, risk factors for diseases, and many other health issues that may be relevant during treatment. Medical charts are also used to plan surgeries, subsequent visits, and after care. Medical charting is also used for regular provision of insurance benefits and billing. When a patient is hospitalized, medical charts provides a medium of communication for caregivers on duty round the clock. All of these things could be better served through the utilization of electronic medical charting. This is especially true when care is given round the clock by multiple caregivers on varying shifts (such as in hospital setting or urgent care/emergency facility).
